The woman who accused Imbewu : The Seed crew members of sexual harassment on set is nowhere to be found.
Only known as Amanda Phakathi, the woman made allegations of inappropriate sexual remarks and being humiliated on set on social media.
Speaking to Sowetan at the launch of the TV drama in Durban recently, producer Anant Singh said attempts to get hold of Phakathi failed as no one knows her and she has not made any contact with the producers of the show.
“I’ve seen the Facebook report and we have done our own investigation … Duma [Ndlovu] went on Facebook and said ‘okay we take this very seriously come and talk to us’.
“We can’t find them on our crew list and no one is showing up. So, it’s quite bizarre what is going on but we certainly have talked to everyone in the cast and crew and had a meeting with the whole production to say if there are any grievances or, if you know anything about this person, tell us, and no one seems to know anything. I think someone is trying to make some monkey business,” Singh said.

She wrote: “You people treat extras like nobodies. I will make sure I gather up a team of extras and boycott Imbewu and get the media involved too. The way extras are treated is disgusting! Those male crew are perverts as well.”
She added that a male crew member also shouted at her for banging a door on set while she carried heavy outfits for the shoot.
“When the shoot began they called me in to be an extra for the scene. The men there (part of the crew I think) kept pointing at my legs and laughing. I felt so uncomfortable ... as if there was something wrong with me.”
Singh said they were concerned that Phakathi had disappeared.
“The show is coming out. People are jealous. You will never know what is in people’s heads. It’s quite unfortunate and very disappointing – if someone has something to say, they must come out and say ‘this is what happened to me’.”
e.tv said the matter was being investigated.
The much-anticipated drama is set to premiere next week Monday.
Imbewu : The Seed revolves around the family dynasties and two brothers in KwaZulu-Natal.
