Budding Afro-pop/soul group A'latos is determined to make a mark in the entertainment industry.

The group is made up of Athenkosi Xhontana, 24, and guitarist Thembelani Poto, 31. Although the two Eastern Cape lads have not hit the big-time yet, they are pursuing their passion with resilience. Theirs is a unique sound laced with a lead guitar as they strive to create their own identity.

A'latos announced their arrival on the music scene with the single Ixesha, that is currently getting airplay on different radio stations. Xhontana explains that Ixesha is about celebrating those whose dreams have suddenly come true.

"The song speaks to anyone who has been hustling for a better life. It is also directed at those who have been hurt many times in love and at last found a person they can love," Xhontana says.

Poto adds that their music speaks about the trials and tribulations of life, the ups and downs of being in love and life.

The two musicians have known each other since 2011 when they sang for rival groups but it was only in 2014 that they decided to team up and form A'latos.

For three years the group struggled to find someone who understood their music until they met businessman China Mpololo last year.

A'latos has been performing at different events around the country, sharing stages with various artists.
