After an open online casting call in search of an actor who closely resembles Reneilwe (Amo Chidi), newcomer Lethabo Mashego has been cast on local soapie Rhythm City.

The Bushbuck Ridge-born actress will make her début as Reneilwa’s doppelganger Kgaugelo on the etv show on Wednesday, 19 July.

Just like in the 1992 thriller film based on jealousy and obsession, Single White Female, Kgaugelo is a girl who is obsessed with Reneilwe and ends up pretending to be her and to live her life.

The 23-year-old actress completed an NSC in Dramatic Arts at the National School of the Arts in 2011.

“I am so excited about this opportunity to work with and learn from these big names in the industry,” Mashego expressed in a statement.

“I'm a Broadway diva in my spare time, I love playing netball and I'm obsessed with anything beauty-related, be it clothes, shoes or make-up. I also really value my sleep and would do anything to sneak in a nap!”
