Three months after their major victory at the Metro FM Awards in Durban, winners and performers are still to get paid by he SABC.

This because the public broadcaster was broke and prioritising the payment of production companies that were producing some of the station's flagship programmes like soapies and magazine programmes.

Sunday World can reveal that award winners and performers were owed more than R3-million. As a result, most winners have approached the Association of Independent Record Companies (Airco) for intervention.

SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago confirmed that artists have not been paid, but said it was due to them not signing their contracts on time or delays in submitting invoices.
