Shaleen Surtie-Richards: I don’t have time for love

Veteran actress Shaleen Surtie-Richards is “enjoying life” at the moment and isn’t interested in searching for love.

Shaleen returned to screens this week on e.tv’s new telenovela Broken Vows.

The series gives viewers a glimpse into the life of a wedding planning business and centers around themes of love‚ but Shaleen told TshisaLIVE that her work schedule didn’t allow her to go looking for romance.

“I know a lot has been said about my love life but the truth is I am far too old and far too busy to have a boyfriend right now‚” she said.

My hot Ben10 was a joke‚ says teary Shaleen Surtie-RichardsPictures of veteran actress Shaleen Surtie-Richards looking loved-up with a mystery guy sparked massive speculation on whether she had bagged herself a hot young man.

She admits that she has not given up on love but is in no hurry to go chasing after it either.

“I have been in a number of bad relationships and so I am in no rush to get a new husband or anything like that. I am working hard and if the right man comes‚ then so be it. But I’m starting to think he will have to fall from the sky for that to happen‚” she joked.

Shaleen’s love life hit the headlines late last year when it was reported that she was dating a young businessman. She later denied this‚ saying that the pair were just friends.

She said that she did not know where the rumours came from and was preparing for a return to theatre at the time of the reports.

“It was quite ridiculous actually. I had just started negotiating to do a theatre version of (the 1988 film) Fiela se Kind and I was not ready to see my name in the headlines again. It all spun out of control‚” she said.

Shaleen has embraced the return to both screen and theatre.

“I am working hard. It is wonderful! Someone asked me the other day how I managed to keep up with the demands of being on both (projects)‚ and I told them that it was wonderful to just have work for a year. I realise I have been in the industry for very long and sometimes jobs are hard to come by at my age so I am grateful‚” she said.
