It’s been three years since rapper Khuli Chana was shot at by police in a case of mistaken identity.

The rapper’s life changed in a split second‚ and the days that followed the shooting has been a traumatic rollercoaster.

It’s been a long road to healing for the rapper‚ who recently released a documentary about the ordeal.

Speaking to Drum magazine at the release of his documentary Picking Up The Pieces: The Khuli Chana Story the rapper said that his lady‚ Asanda Maku has been his pillar of strength.

“She was very supportive throughout the whole ordeal. But I also felt for her because I wasn’t the same person. I was going through a change. I was bitter‚ I was paranoid and I had mental blocks. But I got through it‚” he told the publication.

Khuli went on to add that his baby girl Nia has also played a major role in his healing process. The rapper added that making his documentary has been the best therapy in helping him deal with the ordeal.

After months of being locked in a lengthy legal battle with police‚ the rapper reached a settlement with the police in June this year.

Khuli launched a civil case against the SAPS which was said to be around R2 million after the organisation refused to pay the amount‚ despite agreeing to initially.
