Here's who made the cut for BET's top 20 SA movers and shakers

BET has unveiled its definitive list of 2016’s top 20 South African movers and shakers‚ The BET A-list.

The honourees of the inaugural The BET A-list were announced on Wednesday evening at a star-studded event‚ hosted by TV personalities Nandi Madida and Ayanda Thabethe‚ in the Arcadia Ballroom‚ The Westcliff‚ Johannesburg.

South Africa’s sporting heroes led the field‚ scoring honours for both Caster Semenya and Wayde van Niekerk.

The creative arts also scored high as director Thabang Moleya and novelist‚ poet and playwright Zakes Mda were recognised by the entertainment channel‚ along with actress Terry Pheto as well as TV/film producers Shona and Connie Ferguson — who made the list as Game Changers in the TV and film industry.

Internationally renowned fashion designer David Tlale was named A-List Style Icon‚ while hip-hop star Riky Rick won points for his stand-out style as A-List’s Most Stylish Musician.

Publisher and businesswoman Khanyi Dhlomo was pronounced A-List Entrepreneur while DJ Sbu was recognised for his philanthropic efforts.

TV favourites Bonang Matheba and Somizi Mhlongo took home titles for A-List Radio and TV Personality‚ while hilarious trio Nicholas‚ Jason and Donovan Goliath were named A-Listers in the field of comedy.

Contemporary musicians continued to dominate the A-List‚ with legendary DJ and producer Black Coffee named A-List DJ. Upon accepting his award‚ he urged members of the media to “stop making stupid people famous.” It is still unclear who he was referring to.

AKA was crowned A-List Social Media Star‚ Cassper Nyovest was decreed A-List Game Changer in Music‚ while Nasty C‚ who could not make it to the event‚ was dubbed the Rising Star.
