Popular TV personality Somizi has faced a barrage of abuse ever since he was unveiled as one of the hosts of Metro FM’s morning show Whose Show Is It Anyway‚ but he’s not fazed by what his haters have to say about him.

The Idols judge found himself in the midst of a social media storm after just a few days on the job‚ with fans openly mocking the show’s hosts and suggesting that Somizi might be better suited for a late night shift.

Speaking to Drum recently‚ Somizi said that he is not bothered by the criticism the show has received and isn’t about to change.

“I have never been the kind of person who worries about other’s opinions. I do me‚ I have always done me. People are entitled to have their opinion‚ that’s okay with me. All I know is that I am not going to write myself off or listen to the naysayers. If I had listened to the naysayers‚ I would never have reached where I am in my career‚” Somizi said.

It’s only been just over a month since the show’s debut and Somizi acknowledges that he still has to settle in at the station.

“It’s something I’m still getting used to- I knew I wouldn’t become a pro that easily. I am not settled in yet- I am like a newborn baby. The settling in will probably happen in the next six months‚” Somizi said.

But if some fans have their way‚ Somizi might not have six months to spare.

As TMG Entertainment reported last month‚ the constant criticism has led to the SABC promising to evaluate the show.

“Obviously management would have to do a thorough evaluation of exactly what it is about the show that is causing the outcry‚ but they cannot just base their findings only on the audience’s reaction. But we’re aware of the negative comments about the show.” SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said at the time.
