Despite having been snubbed at this year’s South African Music Awards‚ Prince Kaybee’s debut album‚ Better Days‚ has reached gold status.

According to a statement‚ the 12-track debut album‚ released in 2015‚ has sold over 20 000 copies nationwide as of Thursday.

In putting together the album‚ which features the likes of Ziyon‚ Thiwe and Dr. Malinga‚ Prince Kaybee said: “I wanted people to hear my capabilities in the body of music and not just the singles and I think those who listen to the whole album will appreciate that.”

He added that the album and its title was inspired by his struggles and journey to his success.

Although the DJ walked away with the Best Dance Album of The Year Award at the 2016 Metro FM Awards for Better Days‚ he did not make the 22nd annual South African Music Awards’ nominations cut despite sending through his album for consideration.
