Idols SA Amanda not disappointed in herself despite bowing out

Amanda Antony Having made it into the top 16 by pure luck after the judges sent her packing after the solo performances, under unfortunate circumstances for Nonhle Mhlongo, Amanda Antony has won the hearts of Idols fans who have voted her into the top 10. Speaking about the sudden and frequented change of hairstyles, Amanda says she gets tired of having the same hair forever. "It's hair guys, and I'm just one of those people that, I get bored with hairstyles and I understand that you guys might not recognise me from time to time just because I change them so often but I hope that you'll bear with me because like you know when you have one hairstyle for like a very long time, you start like not knowing what to do with it and I'm just like that type of person so I just decided one day 'okay let me shave off this hair and just have this new hairstyle'".

After much of a rollercoaster which included being eliminated from the top 16 and coming back after one idols hopeful bowed out, the 'comeback kid' Amanda Antony has waved her final Idols South Africa goodbye.

The 22 year-old could not garner enough of the 6.4 million cast votes between Sunday and Tuesday evening to secure a spot in the top 6.

"I am sad, I am disappointed, I mean having comeback into the competition the way I did I told myself I'm gonna work, and I did. I gave it my all and I was like 'I wanna go all the way' but unfortunately it's just the way it is," she said.

"I feel very blessed, I've learned so much in this competition, I have made friends, I have met a lot of influential people in the industry and I think everything that I have experienced is gonna work."

Antony was sent packing during the top 16 selection but came back after the 29 year-old Nonhle Mhlongo pulled out of the competition as she had signed a recording deal and could not negotiate a 'temporary release for Idols'.

"So I didn't make it into the top 16 and I went home, got home and was thinking 'okay Amanda what are you going to do with your life now?' ... and then I get a call from the Idols people they tell me somebody dropped out of the competition and the judges have unanimously chosen you."

She says that she took it all in her stride and told herself that she has to work even harder to prove to everyone that she is a good singer.

"I did my best, that's exactly what I did. I fought because for me the pressure was on because I came back and had to bring everything that I had.

"There is nothing that I could have differently on the show. I regret nothing because now South Africa knows Amanda," she said.

The Port Elizabeth songwriter believes was destined for greatness in the music industry and wants to own a recording studio.
