The dream continues for Idols SA's Lungisa

Lungisa Xhamela Probably the most loved on social media but definitely not the most voted Idol this season. Lungisa Xhamela shockingly did not receive enough votes from his 'stans' to make it into the top 10 but as he was probably readying his mind to face disappointed fans back home in Langa, the judges used their 'save an Idol' powers to secure him a spot in which he broke down live on stage. "Honestly, Thami (Shobede) is a really really great vocalist and when I was up against him I was really doubting myself but I wanna say thank you so much to the judges and this proves that I need to prove myself again to South Africa."

After two weeks of heartaches, the girls were spared tears on Sunday when Idols South Africa host ProVerb announced they are all safe and that one of the guys will be waving goodbye this week.

Dineo Moseki, Mmatema Moremi and Amanda Antony have survived the gruesome elimination weeks but not so much for Lungisa Xhamela who received the least votes.

The 25 year-old has been under a lot of scrutiny since his inclusion in the top 10 was as a result of being saved by the judges.

But the Cape Town-born muso says he is not entirely shocked about his departure because someone has to leave every week.

"I said to the other contestants, 'guys this is not end of the road if you go out, each and every week someone has to go out and it's just my time for me to go out this weekend'.

"It's not the end of my career, its actually the beginning I'm going to use Idols as a stepping stone to reach better heights in the future," he said.

Lungisa, like all the other contestants, was in the competition for the long run. He wanted to win the competition mostly for his daughter who is the reason he entered in the first place.

"Obviously my main reason was to win Idols and get a life for my daughter and being eliminated today does not mean I can't use this opportunity to make a better life for my daughter.

"Just being in the top 10 already was something amazing for her that I can work on, now that I'm actually in the top 8 its actually more so as I said I'll use everything that I've been given here to make a much more better life for her. The journey does not end here, it's gonna be really good," he said.

Like a lot of artists, Lungisa also believes that there are a lot of opportunities for musicians in Gauteng.

"After here I'm obviously going home in Cape Town just to find my feet, I'm not going to immediately jump into the music but I will use this opportunity. I don't want it to fade away because I want to be in the limelight forever.

"So I'll come back here in January permanently. There's a lot I have planned working with my booking agent. So you'll still see a lot of me.
