Durban trio Dreamteam are ready for the small screen

Just a month after releasing their debut album, Dreamteam is already talking reality television.

The Durban trio, Trevor 'Trey' Sineke, Mthoko 'Dash' Mkhathini and Lusaso 'Saso' Ngcobo released their album 'Dreams Never Die' end of July and it has been on everyone's lips.

The 18 track album features the Supermega AKA, the Nigerian star Ice Prince, Donald and music producer Anatii among others.

They are now in the final stages of sealing a big reality TV show deal that they believe South Africans will love.

The show will focus on their lives on and off the stage.

Without revealing much the trio confirms that they began filming their performances way before the TV show talks came into play. This means they can now incorporate the archive footage into their new show.

"So there's a lot of performance shoots, there's a lot of us chilling, there's a lot of stuff which we shot throughout the whole journey," said Saso.

"Then we got approached that someone wants to do a reality show with us. So that might happen next year."

The trio will also be appearing in the new Coca-Cola campaign 'Coke Studio' where artists are called to collaborate with other artists that they would not normally work with.

"It's just basically a collaboration show where they put two artists that wouldn't necessarily ordinarily collaborate together and come out and they do a song.

"We did a collaboration and then they called us back to do our own song for that thing. So we've got two episodes," said Trey.

Having started from the bottom, Dreamteam is definitely here. Apart from getting booked to perform outside the country more often, the trio is also designing and selling clothing as a extension of their business.

"We've got a lot of plans, from merchandise - doing our clothing, we have restarted doing our clothing. That's actually how we kind of got into the game. We had our own branding, everything of ours was branded, from t-shirts," explains Trey.

"So we're trying to follow up on that right now just to take it to the next level obviously in terms of the quality of clothing that we are bringing out because you don't want to sell stuff to people and doesn't really last that long."

A lot of people might say that their album is a cliche since it speaks about their life and how they had to overcome hardships, but unlike a lot of artists, the trio is using their life stories to show people, especially kids in schools, that 'it is possible' and they should 'never let their dreams die'.

In line with their mission, the trio keep going to different schools to motivate students while selling their albums.

"It is also just reiterating the title itself (Dreams Never Die) just going back to people and actually just showing them that dreams really really never die," said Dash.

"A couple of years ago we were in their position and schooling, studying - that it is just a case of just chasing your dreams."

The album includes hit songs such as the popular 'What's Your Name', 'Shandis" with Anatii, iNgoma and three Interludes where each member shares a hearty story.
