New lady for a fit, booze-free Lagosh - rapper quits his bad ways

CONTROVERSIAL rapper Lagosh says he has quit drinking and denounced his bad ways because he has found love.

This comes as the musician's new single, One Woman Man surface - where he declares his love and commitment to his girlfriend - was released this week.

Yesterday, the 27-year-old rapper and maker of the hit, The One For You, said the negative reports that have dogged his image for the past few years had affected him and those close to him.

Lagosh, whose real name is Tshepo Mashile, said he recently learned that his bad-boy image had scuppered his chances of having his own reality TV show. He said this happened when negotiations were already at an advanced stage.

Over the past few years, Lagosh had been involved in several scandals - he was linked to an orgy with other celebrities.

Other reports branded him a "Ben 10" after he was linked to some celebrity women.

Another damning report claimed he had received oral sex from a Brazilian model while cruising in a Bentley on the highway. These stories, he said, had created the impression that he was a Casanova.

"Some of the things that have been said about me are not true but when those close to you read or hear about them, it affects them.

"I have decided to stay away from negative people and situations.

"I have also quit drinking and go to gym. I have been sober for three months now. The only attention I draw to myself now must be positive," Lagosh said.

"I've learned that even when some of the stories are not true, they stick on you as a person."

One of the lines in his new single goes: "Angisafuni ukudlala ngengane zabantu" (I no longer want to be a player).

Lagosh also revealed that his US-based management had recently made it possible for him to record a remake of the 90s hit Candy Rain with the R&B group Soul 4 Real.

The un-released remake of the hit has millions of hits on Youtube and the artists are scheduled to shoot a video later this month in Atlanta.

The project is funded by his Congolese sponsors, who among other things, have appeared in social media videos throwing money at crowds and in clubs when he performs. In one video, seen by Sowetan, one of these sponsors throws R200 notes at revellers in a club with Lagosh next to him.

Lagosh declined to divulge the name of his new girlfriend, saying he preferred to keep their relationship private.
