MI CASA'S frontman JSomething has shed 13kg in eight weeks. His dramatic transformation has come to the fore in his most recent performances.

The 25-year-old musician was inspired by a desire to have a six pack.

"I've never been in good shape and always wondered how I would look with a flat stomach. I decided I should do something about it when I got back from holiday," he said.

Something, whose real name is Joao da Fonseca was nudged to change his weight after his group's tour of Europe and then a holiday in Croatia.

"I've changed some of my diet and I'm more educated about food now," he said adding that he breaks a sweat by jogging. "I run about 10-15km every second day, I play five-a-side indoor soccer on Tuesday and Monday nights and I also go to the gym.

"I've cut out chips and fast foods and now I check and write down everything I consume to see how many calories I've eaten."

Something concedes that not having a fixed job makes it hard for him to eat well and keep in line.

He is not bothered by the adage "don't trust a skinny chef".

He began shooting his cooking TV show Something's Cooking 12 weeks ago and started the new diet four weeks later.

"The show has been amazing. I'll have Mo T coming to join me in the kitchen in coming episodes," he said of one of his bandmates.
