Athandwa Kani has been on the Generations set for barely a week and his father John Kani is already stirring the pot.

The veteran actor popular for his roles in ‘Nothing But The Truth’, ‘Sarafina’ and ‘Inkaba’ has come out in full support for his son who had been fired before even appearing on screen to play Samora Lembede.

John Kani who stands behind not only his son, but also the rest of the Generations cast says that he will ensure the soap set remains 'barricaded' until the actors' demands are met.

“Let’s make sure no one walks on the set of Generations. We will block the doors, it will not continue. "I am embarrassed by the R55k average salary. I would not work for that little. The last time I earned this was in the 70s.” said Kani.

He went on to say that the actors have to get a little ‘out of hand’ in order to make their voices heard and that they should do what the miners did when they blocked the gates at the Lonmin offices.

Referring to the statement that Vundla made last week that the 'show must go on', Kani added: "There are no vacancies kwa Generations so don't go there looking for work.

There is no way you could find someone from Park Station to play Menzi Ngubane, there is no way.

"The SABC has acted in an arrogant manner which bridges contractual agreement that requires at least three warnings before you dismiss.

"There are no vacancies kwa (at) Generations so don't go there looking for work." said Kani who added that those interested should consider that they will be taking bread out the 16 actors mouths.
