AKA vs Cassper 'beef' gets real

Many thought that the rivalry between SA rappers AKA and Cassper Nyovest was just a PR stunt but the past weekend’s events have proved the opposite.

Musician, Cassper Nyovest, Real name, Refiloe Phoolo has opened a case against one of AKA’s entourage members after a gun was pulled on him, Friday night.

The incident allegedly took place on the 15th August 2014 at SABC 1’s Live Amp studios where both artists had been invited to perform.

“The incident involved one of AKA’s entourage members’, known as Prince Nyembe, threatening Cassper Nyovest with a firearm and AKA assaulting Cassper’s Road Manager, Tshepo Seone better known as ‘Spike’,” Cassper’s PR company, African Star Communications, said in a press release.

“I feel this incident was unnecessary and was a sad day for the entertainment industry in South Africa. I chose not to retaliate as I have lived the life of gangster violence before and walked away from it to pursue my music career,” he was quoted saying.

“As I am a public figure now what message would I be sending out to the people that support me. Therefore I will take the correct procedures to deal with the matter.”
