New Miss SA crown unveiled (PHOTOS)

When Miss South Africa 2014 is announced at Sun City on March 30 she will be crowned with a brand new glittering creation by Jack Friedman Jewellers.

The modern platinum crown was unveiled yesterday during an event in Sandton City.

The crown, named Palesa (Flower in Sesotho) was designed from platinum by the Jack Friedman team as well as pageant designer Malcolm Kluk using inspiration taken from the natural beauty of indigenous South African flowers and traditional patterns.

‘Palesa’ the new headpiece was created to match the new look and revamped Miss SA pageant.

Vying to take both the title and the tiara are 12 Miss SA finalists who come from around the country.

They are Abigail de Jager, Mpumalanga; Anzél Stofberg, Western Cape; Caylene Marais, Gauteng; Dipalesa Mbola, Free State; Jade Hubner, Western Cape; Julia Petersen, KwaZulu-Natal; Matlala Mokoko, Limpopo; Mishka Patel, Western Cape; Rolene Strauss, Free State; Tidimalo Sehlako; Gauteng; Tshegofatso Monggae, Gauteng and Ziphozakhe Zokufa, Eastern Cape.

The entertainment line-up for the night includes Mi Casa, Matthew Mole and Bucie.

The artists will entertain both the Superbowl audience as well the thousands of TV viewers watching the live broadcast on the night.

The Miss South Africa pageant takes place at Sun City Superbowl on Sunday March 30.

It will be televised live on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161) at 5.30pm on Sunday, March 30.
