Leona Lewis was devastated when she split with her first boyfriend, A&R scout Lou Al-Chamaa.
The 28-year-old singer - who was in a 10-year relationship with A&R scout Lou Al-Chamaa until 2010 - didn't think she would ever get over the breakdown of her first romance, but she now believes the split has shaped her life for the better. She told Stylist magazine: ''Everything has led me to where I'm supposed to be now and even the stupid stuff I did when I was younger happened for a reason.
''For example, with my first boyfriend, I was so in love with him when we broke up I thought the world had ended. But as I got older and thought about it, I saw it wasn't meant to be and I wouldn't have done the things I've done or be on the path I'm on now.'' The 'Bleeding Love' hitmaker admits she would like to tie the knot one day after being a bridesmaid at her parents' wedding nine years ago, but she had never entertained the idea of getting hitched herself until her mother and father's nuptials.
She added: ''My parents got married there when I was 19 and I was a bridesmaid. I didn't think they were ever going to do it, so I couldn't believe it when they did. ''I didn't used to want to get married, which is why I think my mum did it, to encourage me. ''She'd always be like, 'Oh, a big wedding,' and I'd be like, 'No, I'm not getting married!' But now, I think I would at some point.''
