"It's cool"

HIP-HOP artist and producer Dylan King, aka Blayze, is looking forward to his new role as the South African correspondent for the showbiz programme Star Gist.

The show, which airs on the Africa Magic channel every weekday at 7.30pm, features entertainment and celebrity news from all over the continent.

"I think it's a cool endorsement. For a big channel like Africa Magic to choose me is a great boost for my career outside of music," said Blayze, 28.

"We are excited about our new addition to the Star Gist cast," said M-Net Africa managing director Biola Alabi.

Blayze, who previously appeared on the show as a guest presenter, said the offer came as a total surprise.

His responsibilities will include reporting on the entertainment scene and all the latest events taking place in South Africa.

"I want to bring more spice to the show," he said.

With his musical background, Blayze, who heads his own company, Blayze Entertainment, hopes to bring people's stories, good content and interesting news to Star Gist.

Though this is the young entertainer's first big television job, he said he was not intimidated at all.

"I'm really just focusing on how I can make a difference," he said.
