Parties galore to welcome new year in style

AS WE say goodbye to 2011, parties have been lined up across the country to welcome the new year in style, beginning today running through tomorrow until New Year's Day.

Those in Mpumalanga will party the night away at the annual Year-End Gospel Music that will see Deborah Fraser hold fort as the main act while more than 20 local artists will also help the people to usher in the new year.

The party has been organised by the Mpumalanga Provincial Government.

The gig will start at 6pm tomorrow and end at 6am on New Year's Day.

But it is those that will be in Gauteng between today and the New Year's Day that are spoilt for choice with regards to partying into the new year.

The impoverished KwaNgcolosi clan outside Durban will be turned into a jazz feast when top jazz musicians perform at the Inanda Dam on New Year's Day.

Award-winning jazz singer Siphokazi Maranqana is billed to perform along the likes of Xolisa Dlamini, Bongani Nkwanyana who had performed with the late jazz legend Sipho Gumede, Afro-jazz legend Joe Nina, Factors, Sam Sam Manjeya, Nomalanga Hlubi, Nonhlanhla Wanda while Shabalala Rhythm brings the flare of maskandi combined with jazz, Jazz Clubs and DJ Nka.

The annual Inanda Dam Jazz Picnic-Siyabonga Siyaphila aims to bring joy and ensure that the rural communities also celebrated the festive season with music.

Tomorrow those who will be around Johannesburg might have to consider the annual Johannesburg Carnival that starts off in Hillbrow from 10am going all the way to Newtown, via Mandela Bridge in Braamfontein.

The event will showcase about 2000 participants who would be wearing colourful costumes and entertaining onlookers.

For those who are ready to party wild, the place to be is probably the Jet-5FM Sunset Beach NYE Party happening at Outer Limits Broadacres.

The party will run throughout tomorrow until the New Year's Day.

It will feature more than 30 DJs, and has a Hawaiian theme running through.
