LEGENDARY gospel musician Sipho Makhabane has promised music fans in Polokwane a great show on December 3.

Makhabane has teamed up with Thobela FM to host a gospel festival at the Polokwane Rugby Fields. Thobela FM will also be celebrating its 51st anniversary.

The festival features seasoned artists such as Rebecca Malope, Winnie Mashaba, Sechaba, Solly Mahlangu, Keke, Worship House, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Tshepiso Motaung, Israel Mosehla, Uche, Pastor Ncanda and Thobekile.

Staging a gospel show for the first time, Makhabane says the festival will be a perfect platform for him to determine if the province is ready for such events.

"It feels great to come to Limpopo to see what the province has to offer," Makhabane said.

He said what would make the event even more exciting was that Limpopo-born artists had been included in the line-up.

"Worship House cannot wait to perform in front of their home crowd, where they are loved and supported like no other musician," Makhabane said.

He added that there will also be a workshop aimed at teaching aspiring gospel artists the in s and outs of the music industry. He said the workshop would be conducted two days before the festival.

"Over and above all that we will donate a portion of the profit to one of the local charity organisations. I hope to make it an annual event after having started it in Swaziland a few years back. I will also be taking it to other provinces," he said.
