Dr. Conrad Murray’s lawyers are seeking probation when he is sentenced at the end of the month.

The doctor could be jailed for up to four years after he was found guilty of the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson – who died of acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009 – last week but his legal team are hoping for a more lenient sentence when he returns to court on November 29.

Sources told gossip website TMZ that lawyers Mike Flanagan and Ed Chernoff will push for probation on the grounds the medic has no criminal history and has been a model citizen and good doctor throughout his professional life.

The lawyers are currently said to be getting statements from his former patients in order to demonstrate his commitment to medicine.

Changes to Californian law mean that even if Murray – who is currently being held in Los Angeles County Jail – is given the maximum sentence by Judge Michael Pastor, he will only serve up to two years in prison and could be eligible to sit out the punishment under house arrest.
