Anger classes for Isidingo actress

POPULAR Isidingo actress Ferry Jele has been ordered by the Randburg magistrate's court to undergo anger management classes.

"I will abide. It could benefit me," she said afterwards.

Magistrate Lasina Khan yesterday provisionally withdrew an assault charge against Jele to afford her to attend the classes.

Jele, who plays Zandile Mthembu in the daily soapie on SABC3, could not contain her excitement after hearing the news.

It took less than two minutes for Khan to allow her to walk free.

It is alleged that on March 22 Jele's vehicle was involved in an accident with another vehicle driven by Caryl Ramsoen on the N1 freeway near Randburg.

It is alleged that the actress assaulted Ramsoen with open hands after an argument at the accident scene.

Jele told Sowetan outside the court building that she was prepared to obey the court order.

"I'm also prepared to attend classes that start next month," she said. "As an actress I might be able to pull something positive out of them and turn it into a play for theatre."

According to the social worker's report, compiled on October 5, Jele was insulted after the accident and she allegedly hit Ramsoen.

Jele also acted in Society, Jacob's Cross, Muvhango, Backstage, Orlando, Mzansi and Generations.

The actress had also performed in theatre productions such as Blues of Biko, Milestones, Bozzolli, Maru, Julius Caesar, Eclipsed, Stockings and Stilettos and King Lear, to but a name a few.

She was nominated for the South African Film and Television Awards for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Drama. The nomination came after she played a lesbian role in Society.
