Thabiso Mokhethi, who plays Samuel Khumalo in Generations, Gospel Gold presenter Palesa Mucuminyane, kwaito star Tshepo "Howza" Mosese and Muvhango actor Tsholo Monedi, who plays Meme, have been appointed ambassadors for Mpumalanga Tourism.

On Friday, residents of Middelburg went crazy when the celebrities hit the town.

"Hi Sam, great to see you" and "Meme we love you", were some of the words shouted at the group when they arrived in the town.

Mpumalanga MEC for tourism Norman Mokoena said he selected the four based on "their good reputations" and the fact that they have a huge following in their fields and have also won the respect of their peers.

While visiting the province's tourism destinations like Kruger National Park, God's Window and Three Rondavels, the personalities interacted with their excited fans.

"This is the reason we are addressing the people of the province and taking their favourite personalities to them to learn more about the community's way of life and in turn spreading the word about the beauty of it all," said Mokoena.
