HERE'S the list of the Nobel Prize winners for 2010:

  • Peace: Liu Xiaobo (China) "for his long and non-violent struggle for fundamental human rights in China".
  • Physiology or Medicine: Robert G Edwards (UK) "for the development of in-vitro fertilization".
  • Physics: André Geim and Konstantin Novoselov (both Russia) for "groundbreaking experiments regarding the two-dimensional material grapheme".
  • Chemistry: Richard F Heck (US), Ei-ichi Negishi (US) and Akira Suzuki (Japan) for "palladium-catalysed cross couplings in organic synthesis".
  • Literature: Mario Vargas Llosa (Peru) for "his cartography of structures of power and his trenchant images of the individual's resistance, revolt, and defeat".
  • Economics: Peter Diamond (US), Dale T Mortensen (US) and Christopher A Pissarides (UK) for "their analysis of markets with search frictions".
