Singing pastor to help youth

GOSPEL singer Sipho "Big Fish" Makhabane says he wants to give back to the community that has supported him, that is why he has embarked on the Big Fish Music Tour

Makhabane, a pastor by calling, announced his retirement as a recording artist last year "to make time for community projects".

He is at present on a musical tour in Mpumalanga, which will also include a workshop for the youth.

Makhabane says the tour started in the Eastern Cape two weeks ago and included a brief appearance in Zimbabwe. On Saturday the show moves to the Lowveld Showgrounds in Nelspruit.

Musicians such as Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Tshe-piso Motaung, Thobekile, Israel Mosehla, Sechaba, Rebecca Malope, Pastor Ncanda and Goodman Mgibe will also entertain music lovers.

Two days before the concert the singing pastor will host a music workshop aimed at teaching young people about the music industry. The venue for the workshops has still to be confirmed.

Makhabane says with this initiative he plans to take gospel music to all parts of southern Africa.

The event started as anannual event in Swaziland but due to the the positive response, Makhabane has turned it into a big roadshow. The show is supported by Ligwalagwala FM.
