Grab your chance to star on Muvhango

MUVHANGO, screened from Mondays to Thursdays and the only family drama priding itself in upholding our cultural values, is creating an opportunity for newcomers.

Auditions will be held on Thursday March 24 from 8 to 10am at Bassline in Henry Nxumalo Street, Newtown, Jo burg.

The characters being auditioned for are a Zulu- or Sesotho-speaking male between the ages of 26 and 32.

The producers are also looking for a woman who is f luent in Tshivenda and English and in her 40s to play a model C English schoolteacher as well, as a 17- to 18-year-old woman who is fluent in isiZulu and Tshivenda. She must have a model C accent.

Aspirants must understand that the storyline is character-driven rather than waltzing around town like a celebrity.

Muvhango entertains, but also teaches South Africans to value their culture, know their roots and never ever be ashamed of who they are. It is the first drama in the industry to communicate exclusively in the marginalised Tshivenda language and now, most of us enjoy the romantic tinge to it and the magnificent manner in which the words roll off the actors' tongues.

When Muvhango first hit the SABC2 screens, many people were sceptical because of the Vhavenda connection. The drama is based on a Vhavenda family, the Mukhwebos, who are based in Johannesburg and Venda. Their blue blood makes them uncompromising when it comes to Vhavenda culture and rituals.

From shaky beginnings, the story has grown to gigantic proportions and has also seen many inexperienced actors blossom into confident, professional and highly sought-after actors.

Subsequently, high-profile actors such as Rapulana Seiphemo, Mara Louw, Sindi Dlathu, Linah Ebony Khama, Candy Moloi and Dingane Mokebe joined the drama .

So, if you've always wanted to be on TV, this is it!
