SOUTH Africa biggest-selling rock band, the Parlotones, have scored a local first.

The multi-platinum band will be the first group in South Africa to have a "3D Concert" broadcast live.

Conceptualised by Eban Olivier and Danie van der Heever, the live broadcast will take place at the The Teatro at Montecasino.

The concert will be broadcast in 3D cinemas world wide and on television in the United States, Europe and South America.

The show will run from July 11 to 17 locally, with the global broadcast taking place on July 16.

Local fans will be able to catch the live performance in 3D at 14 NuMetro cinemas countrywide.

Sovereign Entertainment executive producer and chief executive Raphael Domalik, is the driving force behind the phenomenal success of the Parlotones.

Domalik said the move was aimed at launching the group globally.

"This project was just what we needed to answer the question on everybody's lips: 'What could they possibly do next?' Headlining the Coca-Cola Dome was a South African first, it only seemed fitting to go for a world first," he said.

Local creatives will be assisted by international producer Doug Stanley of Ridgeline Entertainment.

Speaking by satellite from California, Stanley said the concept had been given the green light by many television stations overseas.

"The creative work this team has brought forth, their music and video works are exceptional and appeal to a very wide audience," he said.

"This event is sure to be a milestone in both the music and theatre industries. It will stand alone as the premier 3D broadcast event of the year."

Tickets sales opened yesterday and start at R250.
