No one can really say what the exact causes of prostate cancer are. But research has shown that the following are contributing factors:

Testosterone: the male hormone does not cause prostate cancer but it feeds its growth.

Age: men over 50 are at risk of prostate cancer and as they get older the risk increases.

Heredity: if a man's father or older sibling has had prostate cancer, he is at increased risk.

Genetics: researchers have found that genetic flaws are responsible for many cancers.

Diet: studies have shown that a diet that is high in animal fat could increase a man's risk of developing prostate cancer. A diet high in fruits and vegetables, however, might decrease the risk. - ehealthmd.com; medicalnewstoday.com; medicinenet.com
