'Release the findings of Post Office probe'

THE Communications Workers Union has slammed Public Protector Thuli Madonsela for failing to release a report on corruption in the South African Post Office after nearly two years of investigation.

At a media briefing held in Johannesburg yesterday, the CWU said in April 2011 it requested the public protector to investigate corruption gnawing away the mailing and banking parastatal.

The union said it was baffled that it had not received findings of the probe since it was launched in April 2011.

"The CWU is disappointed by the manner in which Madonsela is handling the matter," CWU general secretary Thabo Mogalane said.

Public protector spokesman Oupa Segalwe confirmed that there was an undertaking to complete the report by September 2012.
