JAZZ legend Letta Mbulu says she cannot wait to share the stage with local music wonder girl Zahara at the Tribute To South African Music Heroes Concert next month.

The annual concert - scheduled for Moretele Park in Mamelodi, Pretoria, on September 1 - brings world class entertainment and turns 15 this year.

Mbulu, who is one of the stars of the show, said "it was an honour for her just to be onstage with Zahara".

Mbulu explained: "It has always been my fantasy to sing on the same stage with her. This is a dream come true and an honour for me. She is such a talented young lady, with an authentic and unique sound. There is something fresh about her. She is a gem."

Mbulu, who has performed around the world, added that the concert was very sentimental for her.

"This concert is special to me in that I was one of the first people to perform in it," Mbulu said .

Mbulu, who is working on an album that is due to be released in December, said she was also working on a theatre show about her life.

"On the show I will be playing myself. There is no other person who can play myself than me. The story will be about my life journey. I want to tell my story while I am still alive. I am already working on this project."

Also billed to perform in the concert are US-based jazz icon Jonathan Butler, other jazz greats including Jonas Gwangwa, Vusi Mahlasela, Ringo Madlingozi, Mafikizolo, Tsepo Tshola, Zonke, MiCasa and Philip Tabane.

They will also be joined by DJ Choice and seven development bands from Tshwane.

lTickets are available at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers "money market" kiosks.
