YET another June 16 commemoration is being staged by a local radio station.

Metro FM will also celebrate 25 years of broadcasting by hosting a Walk For Freedom from Morris Isaacson High School to Phefeni Junior Secondary School in Vilakazi Street, starting at 6am.

A spokesperson said the event would be in honour of all the young people who lost their lives in the struggle against apartheid and Bantu education. This will give listeners an opportunity to retrace the steps of the heroes who resuscitated the fight for democracy, as well as give today's youths an opportunity to experience what their predecessors went through.

To get a tag to take part in the Walk For Freedom, readers can register their names via SMS at 34764.
