It says a lot about how SuperSport United have progressed when they start expressing disappointment at not beating a top team on the continent.

SuperSport played to a goalless draw with defending CAF Confederation Cup champions TP Mazembe in Group D at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Tuesday.

A while ago, this would have been seen as a good result, considering how big Mazembe are.

But the Matsatsantsa players and technical team were disappointed at their failure to win the home match.

The clubs had previously played to a 2-2 draw in Lubumbashi earlier this month, so SuperSport felt they were good enough to beat the champions in Atteridgeville.

Matsatsantsa, who dropped to second place in the group after the draw, enjoyed possession in the middle and on the flanks, but they did little to threaten the TP Mazembe goal.

"We played against one of the premier clubs on the continent. [But] I was disappointed at the finish that we did not beat them. We were well on top," said Baxter, who was back on the SuperSport bench.

"When we started off [in the Confederation Cup], we were going to places like Liberia and Sudan. We were getting decent results [away from home] and then we were winning at home. Now we went there [Lubumbashi] to get a 2-2 draw and we get a draw at home.

"The lads were feeling that we should have knocked them over. It's a good indicator for the club in general."

SuperSport will play Horoya in Conakry on July 1 before taking CF Mounana in Atteridgeville on July 7.
