Orlando Pirates' current longest-serving member Happy Jele believes the club can celebrate their 80th anniversary in style by winning silverware in the upcoming season.

Nicknamed "Magents" after Bucs' legend Edward Motale, Jele has experienced some highs and lows since his arrival at the club in 2006.

The 29-year-old defender maintained the current team has the quality to deliver in the new season.

"We need to win something this year because we are celebrating our 80th anniversary," he said.

Jele is confident new head coach Muhsin Ertugral has enough quality players at his disposal. This after Bucs raided the market to bring in no less than 10 new acquisitions to bolster the squad ahead of the 2016-2017 season.

The Mhluzi-born, Middelburg, player has backed Ertugral to succeed in his first season.

"So far so good with our new coach ... we are happy with the the way he does things," said Jele, who has worked with nine coaches during his decade-long spell with the Buccaneers.

"The new guys are gelling well with the team," said Jele, who has worked under former coaches such as Milutin Sredojevic and Ruud Krol. "They are doing great and they are performing in each and every training session."

Pirates play Mamelodi Sundowns in a mouth-watering friendly clash in the Hage Geingob Cup at the Independence Stadium, Windhoek, Namibia, tomorrow. The game kicks off at 4pm.
