Embattled SuperSport United coach Gordon Igesund cooled title talks as the pressure mounted following his side's third successive Absa Premiership defeat, this time to Platinum Stars on Saturday.

"I've never ever said we are going to challenge for the championship. I said we are going to be one of the teams that compete. Right now we are not one of those teams," said Igesund after SuperSport were beaten 1-3 by Dikwena in Atteridgeville.

The wheels came off for SuperSport when - following a win and two draws in their opening three matches - they were hammered 4-1 by Kaizer Chiefs on September 12. Igesund could not break the losing cycle when his men narrowly went down 1-0 to Bidvest Wits four days before the weekend's defeat to Dikwena.

With former Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter back in the country, his return has sparked rumours that SuperSport could be his next destination.
