Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung says the newly appointed captain Siphiwe Tshabalala understands the culture of the club.

Shabba joined AmaKhosi from Free State Stars in 2007 scoring 41 goals and appearing 286 times.

"We are happy for Shabba. He has experience and knows the culture of the Club. He deserves it, he is a quality player and leads by example. He is a leader among leaders at Chiefs," said Motaung.

The 30-year -old star is globally recognised after scoring the first goal of the 2010 Fifa World Cup against Mexico at FNB Stadium.

"It is a great honour to be chosen to lead such a great Club,” Tshabalala told the club website.

"I am happy to form part of the illustrious names that captained Chiefs in the past."

"I will be a great example on and off the pitch," continues Shabba.
