#SomeonetellSouthAfrica about the Twitter war between Kenya and SA
Minister of Sports Fikile Mbalula sparked a Twitter war with the Kenyans following controversial comments he made about the East African country on Tuesday.
South Africa won’t be like Kenya and send athletes to the Olympics “to drown in the pools” Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula told journalists in Johannesburg on Tuesday.
ITWebSouthAfrica wrote, South Africa is becoming known for its leaders who use other African countries as examples of what not to be. Another incident in October saw President Jacob Zuma justify the use of the controversial e-toll system by saying: “We can’t think like Africans in Africa. It’s not some national road in Malawi.”
Mbulala was responding to a question about racial quotas in South African sport but he veered off topic by insulting Kenyan athletes.
He started by saying racial transformation in sport cannot be achieved without targets but then ended with the words South Africa would not be like Kenya and send athletes to the Olympics “to drown in the pools”
