NEW Orlando Pirates striker Benni "Magic Feet" McCarthy wants to make history by being the first South African to own a European and African Champions League gold medal - and is still eager to return to Bafana Bafana.

Speaking at a briefing in Johannesburg where he was unveiled by Pirates boss Irvin Khoza yesterday, McCarthy said he had joined Pirates to win trophies.

Khoza said the former Bafana forward has signed a two-year contract with Pirates who have also released players like Siphelele Mthembu (loan) and Josephy Kamwendo.

McCarthy, who won the European Champions League title with Porto, said: "Pirates are the best team with a big following and I'm happy to have joined them. I'm happy to be back in South Africa after almost 14 years, to give back to the country. I still have a few more years to play. I want to win the African Champions League with Pirates.

"I'm ready to play today, tomorrow . I can even play three successive matches. I still want to help Bafana Bafana but it's up to coach (Pitso Mosimane)."

Khoza said: "Benni said he has made enough money (as a player) and all that he wants is to play football .We have to develop and protect his legacy ."
