INDIAN WELLS - Britain's competition-rusty Andy Murray tumbled out of the Indian Wells ATP tournament after being upset 7-6 6-3 by American qualifier Donald Young in the second round on Saturday.
World No5 Murray, runner-up here in 2009, lost the opening set tiebreaker 7-4 and was then broken twice by his 143rd-ranked opponent in the second.
"It's by far the biggest win of my career," a beaming Young said.
It was the left-hander's first victory over a top-10 player in four attempts and earned him a place in the third round of the elite Masters Series event against Spaniard Tommy Robredo, a 6-3 3-6 7-5 winner against Germany's Mischa Zverev.
l Top seed Caroline Wozniacki barely raised a sweat as she pummelled American wildcard Sloane Stephens 6-3 6-2 in the second round of the Indian Wells WTA tournament.
The Danish world No 1 broke Stephens twice in the first set and three times in the second to wrap up victory in just over an hour.
China's seventh-seeded Li Na, however, was eliminated 4-6 6-3 6-3 by compatriot Peng Shuai and 11th seed Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia was ousted 7-6 7-6 by 18-year-old American wildcard Christina McHale.
"I feel good," the 20-year-old Dane told reporters. "It's always nice to have a win, and the first match is difficult. But I pulled through, so it's nice."
