One of the country’s most sought after secrets will be revealed in the Durban Magistrate’s Court this morning as baby Siwaphiwe Mbambo’s “parents” appear in the dock.
Siwaphiwe’s mother S’bongile and her co-accused‚ Phumlani Mbokazi‚ face charges of kidnapping and defeating the ends of justice after allegedly staging a hijacking in which the one-month-old girl went missing.
The pair were arrested at the weekend after a wide-scale police search for the missing baby.
During their last court appearance‚ the court postponed the matter so that a paternity test could be conducted‚ with Mbokazi’s lawyer saying outside court that his client could not have kidnapped his own child.
The secret affair of Mbamba and Mbokazi has been pulled into sharp focus by the case.
