Student life on the University of Zululand’s lush KwaDlangezwa campus has become all too appealing for a herd of “intruder cows”.
The bovine wanderers persistently breach the perimeter of the northern KwaZulu-Natal university grounds and have been threatened with being impounded.
According to a statement posted on UniZulu’s Facebook page‚ the truant cattle belong to farmers in the surrounding area.
“The University has taken a decision to start impounding cows which are found roaming the KwaDlangezwa Campus‚” the institution said.
“The release fee will be R100 per cow a day for a maximum of three days after which the impounded animals will be put down or removed.”
The cows purportedly pose a risk to students and crops raised on the campus by the agriculture department.
