Cop kills three alleged robbers‚ wounds two‚ before turning gun on himself
An Mpumalanga policeman went on a shooting spree on Sunday morning‚ fatally wounding three people and critically injuring two others who allegedly robbed him before killing himself.
The officer‚ according to police‚ was stationed at Vosman police station in Kwaggafontein.
Police spokesman‚ Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said that information which they had indicated that the policeman believed that the five had robbed him.
“As a result he shot all five. Three of them died and two were wounded. The policeman then turned his gun on himself.”
He said police management condemned the incident which he described as deplorable.
“Police must not use their firearms to settle scores. Weapons are only there to be used when attacked.”
