The body of a man believed to have been in a river in southern Gauteng for some time was recovered on Saturday‚ ER24 said.

ER24 paramedics were alerted about a body in a river in Henley on Klip in the Meyerton area.

 “Upon arrival paramedics found the body hooked by a tree branch. The body had then dislodged. Paramedics and Midvaal Fire and Rescue used a rubber canoe to get to and retrieve the body.

“The man is believed to be about 30 years of age.

“It is believed that the man could have been in the water for at least two days‚” said ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing Harduth.

She added that an autopsy would have to be conducted to determine the cause of death.
