Western Cape High Court to hand down judgment in Jiba case on Monday

The Western Cape High Court will on Monday hand down judgment on an application by the Democratic Alliance to have the National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) Deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP)‚ Adv Nomgcobo Jiba‚ suspended pending a disciplinary inquiry into her fitness to hold office.

The DA‚ in March‚ argued that the failure by President’s Jacob Zuma to suspend Adv Jiba was unlawful and tainted by ulterior motives and bias.

 The party said that the chairperson of the its federal executive‚ James Selfe‚ and its shadow minister of justice‚ Adv Glynnis Breytenbach would be present in court for the judgment.

“The DA will not allow the President’s inaction to topple the Rule of Law or the integrity of the South African criminal justice system. The DA trusts the court will do what the President should have done in the first place‚” the party said on Sunday.
