Johannesburg - A 6-year-old boy was dragged to his death when he was hit by a truck on the R102 near Maidstone in Tongaat on Monday.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said: "Reports from the scene indicate that a child was hit by a truck and then dragged along the roadway for some distance.
"Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the unresponsive body of the child lying in the roadway. The boy had died before our arrival due to the extensive injuries that he sustained."
It was not clear how far the child had been dragged.
Botha said the circumstances surrounding the incident was not known. Police were investigating.
