The Africa Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce said the “government’s reluctance to put an end to re-occurring social unrest is only encouraging the xeno-criminals to step up their illegal and criminal game”.

“The Taiwanese community in South Africa is shocked at the recent xenophobic violence and mourns those that have lost their lives‚” the organisation’s president Michael Sun said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Recent reports and photographic images of slaughtering are chilling to the spine‚ the world is dismayed at our behaviour and heads are shaking from Taiwan to Paraguay.”

While Sun acknowledged the worthiness of dialogue proposed by authorities‚ he said “it is more important that forces are deployed to areas of potential violence and actual violence to restore stability”.

“The looting that is always associated with xenophobic attacks bears witness to the mob crime intentions. Xeno-criminals see it to be of no consequence to take a foreign life or his belongings‚” Sun said.
