A labour law consultant accused of shooting dead a motorcyclist during a road rage confrontation is expected to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Meekahefele Masooa, 43, was granted R5000 bail during his last appearance on February 17.

In an affidavit presented during his bail application, Masooa said the motorcyclist Douglas Pearce, confronted him on Malibongwe Drive in Randburg.

"He shouted at me, pointed the middle finger at me... I don't know why he did that."

The biker then stopped and pointed a firearm at him.

Masooa said he realised the danger he was in and pulled his gun to defend himself.

"I had no intention to kill him. I realise the seriousness of the offence, but I acted with legal boundaries," he said.

After shooting Pearce, Masooa waited for the police at the scene and later handed in his firearm.

Masooa was injured during the confrontation.
