FORMER Sowetan boxing writer Junior Motsei died on Tuesday night following a hit-and-run car accident near his home in Pimville, Soweto, at the weekend.

Motsei, who was one of South Africa's revered sports writers, was also a pastor.

He was ordained in the United States in the nineties.

Motsei died at a Johannesburg hospital after being unconscious for two days. He had been admitted on Sunday.

He was renowned for his humorous and witty sports writing and met his untimely death while freelancing for City Press newspaper.
