Job seekers in Limpopo have been warned against a trickster promising them work in exchange for cash.

“A con artist pretending to be Simon Mokoatedi, the spokesperson of the Polokwane municipality, swindles money from desperate people looking for employment in government,” Lt-Col Mohale Ramatseba said.

More than 10 people who fell for the scam arrived at the Polokwane municipality’s offices on Tuesday.

They demanded their jobs after they allegedly deposited money ranging from R1,000 to R4,000 to the fraudster.

Ramatseba said police were investigating.

“People affected by this scam should come forward and assist the police.”
