A POPULAR GaRankuwa, north of Pretoria, taverner has been arrested for illegal possession of an automatic rifle.
The 46-year-old man was arrested at a GaRankuwa filling station in the early hours of yesterday.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said as part of Operation Duty Calls, police were engaged in a stop-and-search operation at about 1am when they spotted a suspicious-looking vehicle.
"They followed it up to a filling station in Zone 4, GaRankuwa.
An AK-47 and 63 rounds of ammunition were found in the vehicle."
